St. Louis Cardinals Rookie Michael Siani Placed on Injured List with Oblique Strain

The St. Louis Cardinals have been hit with a blow as they place rookie center fielder Michael Siani on the 10-day injured list due to a right oblique strain. This comes after Siani was injured during his second at-bat in Saturday’s game against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, where the Cardinals secured a 5-4 win.

Siani, known for his speed on the field, has been a valuable asset to the team with a batting average of .256, two home runs, 18 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases in 101 games. The 25-year-old’s absence will surely be felt by the Cardinals as they continue their season.

In light of Siani’s injury, the Cardinals have recalled outfielder Victor Scott II from Triple-A Memphis. Scott, who has been performing well in the minor leagues, will have the opportunity to showcase his skills at the major league level.

Manager Oliver Marmol expressed uncertainty about the extent of Siani’s absence, but the team remains hopeful for a speedy recovery. In the meantime, the Cardinals will have to rely on their depth and the contributions of Scott to fill the void left by Siani’s absence.  View Comments
