Roman Bürki has been recognized as the 2023 MLS Allstate Goalkeeper of the Year for his pivotal role in the unprecedented inaugural season success of St. Louis CITY SC.

Previously a Swiss national team player and a key figure at Borussia Dortmund, Bürki is the inaugural individual from an expansion team to secure this accolade since Zach Thornton’s achievement with Chicago Fire FC in 1998. This also marks the first time a St. Louis CITY SC player has received an MLS Year-End Award.

Noteworthy achievements for Bürki are as follows:

• 17 wins are the most by any goalkeeper during their first MLS season (post-shootout era).
• 42 goals conceded are the fewest of any goalkeeper to play at least 30 games for an expansion club in a 34-game season.
• One of three goalkeepers to record over 100 saves in MLS (123) this season.

• Niche Food Group.

According to the hype at the reveal event which took place at St. Louis City SC’s home, Centene Stadium, at 2100 Market St. in Downtown West on Monday, Oct. 17, fans will have a great selection of food and drink to choose from.

Balkan Treat Box, BEAST Craft BBQ Co. and Steve’s Hot Dogs will operate kiosks around the stadium concourse, while Niche Food Group will be based out of the Together Credit Union Club on the stadium’s west side.

The soccer club has also produced a four-part video series sharing the stories behind each of the initial partner restaurants. Hosted by Gerard Craft, the first two episodes of the series are now available on the St. Louis City SC YouTube channel.

St. Louis hosts quite a few parades each year, with the St. Patricks Day Dogtown Parade being on of the most popular! Every March the people of St. Louis descend upon the Dogtown neighborhood to celebrate the St. Patrick’s Day holiday. Dogtown is an Irish-American neighborhood that sits just south of Forest Park in south St. Louis city.

With very strong Irish roots, it is no wonder the Dogtown area has become the go-to destination each and every St. Patrcks Day. Home to many Irish bars and restaurants, Dogtown attracts an enormous crowd of spectators as well as participants in the Dogtown Parade.

Once a year the night skies of St. Louis light up above Forest Park due to the Annual Balloon Glow. This is year is no different! 2012 marks the 40th Anniverasry of the  The Great Forest Park Balloon Race! Year after year, the St. Louis Balloon Glow has drawn an enormous crowd of spectators to share in the excitement of the historic race!

History of the St. Louis Ballon Glow

The Great Forest Park Balloon Race was founded by renowned balloonists Nikki Caplan and John O’Toole in 1973, and taken over by four, young, enthusiastic balloonists: John Marlow, John Schaumburg, Dan Schettler and Ted Staley in 1977. What started with four newly certified balloonists and a whimsical group dubbed the Mississippi River Balloon Transit Company, today hails as the organization of the most well-attended, single-day balloon race in the country.

Make sure you do not miss out on this epic event! The 40th Anniversary of the Great Forest Park Balloon Race is on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Central Field in Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri. The St. Louis Balloon Glow will take place on Friday, September 14, 2012 also on Central Field. All events are free to the public –no admittance or parking charges. A detailed schedule of events will be available later this summer.

Parking Tips: Parking for the St. Louis Balloon Glow can be rather hectic, with so many people descending upon Forest Park, you may have trouble finding parking. It is highly suggested to carpool and park in the Dogtown neighborhood and walk over the Tamm overpass to Forest Park.
