Cardinals Miss Out on Potential Trade for Chisholm

However, the focus of this commentary is on Chisholm and the missed opportunity for the St. Louis Cardinals to acquire him. The Marlins recently traded Chisholm to the New York Yankees, leaving Cardinals fans like myself disappointed. It was reported that the Cardinals were one of the potential suitors for Chisholm, along with Cleveland and Pittsburgh, according to R.J. Anderson of CBS Sports.

Chisholm’s Potential Impact on the Cardinals

Anderson noted that if the Cardinals were able to land Chisholm, it would significantly improve their chances in the center field or second base positions. This became even more apparent when right fielder Dylan Carlson made a costly mistake in a recent game and second baseman Nolan Gorman struggled at the plate.

Chisholm’s Performance with the Yankees

Following his debut with the Yankees, Chisholm has been batting .248 with 13 home runs, 50 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases. While he has been injury prone in the past, he has played in 102 games this season, showing his potential for durability. The Yankees’ recent struggles led to the trade that brought Chisholm to New York, leaving Cardinals fans wishing he was on their team.
