Insomnia Cookies to Open New Location in Soulard

Insomnia Cookies, a popular cookie shop, is set to open a new location in Soulard this spring. The storefront, located at 1001 Russell Boulevard, will be the fourth Insomnia Cookies location in St. Louis.

Previous Tenant Controversy

The new location comes one year after a controversial falling out with the previous tenant. The storefront was previously occupied by Boardwalk Waffles, a local chain that quickly grew but eventually collapsed due to lawsuits and allegations of non-payment of rent. The property owners filed a lawsuit in March of last year, claiming that the owner of Boardwalk Waffles, Eric Moore, had been notified of nonpayment and owed $75,000. Moore, on the other hand, claimed that the building’s owner had stolen his safe and ripped the door from its hinges. The parties settled the lawsuit in May and the Soulard location closed soon after, along with other locations in Maplewood and south county.

New Beginnings for Insomnia Cookies

Insomnia Cookies is excited to bring their delicious treats to the Soulard neighborhood. The new location will join their other successful outlets in St. Louis. The company had plans to open two more locations in Midtown and on South Grand, but those plans never came to fruition. With the controversy surrounding the previous tenant, Insomnia Cookies may want to consider burning some sage before baking their first batch of cookies.
