ST. LOUIS, Missouri – This morning, President Green announced the appointment of Christine Ingrassia to serve as her office’s Director of Operations. Ingrassia will begin her new role on Monday, February 27th.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have Alderwoman Ingrassia in this role,” said President Green. “The institutional knowledge she possesses and her longstanding commitment to city residents are tremendous assets—particularly as we transition the Board and manage an ambitious legislative agenda.”
Ingrassia’s appointment is notable given her ten year career as Alderwoman of the 6th Ward. An advocate for working families and LGBTQIA rights, Ingrassia introduced and successfully passed legislation addressing pay inequity and banning conversion therapy. Most recently, Ingrassia sponsored legislation that would establish a right to counsel for tenants facing eviction. The bill was perfected in the Board’s final meeting before the legislative recess.
“I appreciate the opportunity to continue serving the City of St. Louis and the Board of Aldermen in a new capacity,” said Ingrassia. “Transitioning the Board to a 14-person body is an exciting challenge and I’m confident we can bring the new Board online and improve legislative operations in the process.”
Before holding public office, Ingrassia earned a degree in Legal Studies from Webster University and worked in the non-profit sector.
The Director of Operations is responsible for building operational efficiency, working with the Clerk’s office to prepare the Board’s weekly agenda and keeping track of active legislation. Additionally, the D.O. represents the President on various selection committees and ensures that transparency and equity are prioritized when awarding government contracts.
