SIKESTON – Route 34 in Wayne County will be closed as contractor crews replace the bridge over the Black River.

This section of roadway is located between County Road 453 and County Road 459 near Leeper, Missouri.

Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, May 23, with completion anticipated Thursday, December 1.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

The work zone will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
