SLATE Offers Support to Workers Affected by Armory STL Closure with Emergency Hiring Fair

The unexpected closure of Armory STL has left many workers in St. Louis without employment, but the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) is determined to help. In response to this sudden loss of jobs, SLATE will be hosting an emergency hiring fair on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 1520 Market Street.

Job Opportunities in the Hospitality Industry

The hiring fair will focus on job opportunities in the hospitality industry, with confirmed employers such as TopGolf, DoubleTree, Allied Security, River City Casino & Hotel, Marriott Grand, HUSTL Hospitality Group, and Lodging Hospitality Management (LHM). More employers are expected to join the event.

SLATE Missouri Job Center Offers Assistance

Executive Director of SLATE, Fredrecka McGlown, expressed her sympathy for the affected employees and their families, stating that the agency’s goal is to help them quickly find new employment opportunities. She encourages all those impacted to attend the hiring event and take the next step forward.

Parking and Registration Information

Parking is available along Market Street, with the Kiel Center Garage at the corner of Clark and 16th being the recommended parking location. Participants are also encouraged to create a profile at jobs.mo.gov before the event instead of registering on-site. For any inquiries, please call (314) 589-8000.

Additional Services Offered by SLATE

In addition to the hiring fair, SLATE also offers a variety of services such as job search workshops, assessments, and training opportunities for individuals looking to transition to new employment or careers. The SLATE Missouri Job Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (9:00 a.m. opening on Wednesdays) and is located at 1520 Market Street, 3rd Floor, Room 3050.
