Former Vol Trey Lipscomb Makes Impact in Series Finale Against St. Louis

In a dominating performance, the St. Louis Cardinals (48-42) defeated the Washington Nationals (42-49) with a final score of 6-0 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. on Monday.
Former University of Tennessee standout Trey Lipscomb made his presence known as he started at third base for the Nationals. Despite going 1-for-3 in the game against the Cardinals, Lipscomb’s recall from Triple-A Rochester on July 6 proved to be a strategic move for Washington.
The Cardinals ultimately claimed victory in the four-game series against the Nationals, winning 3-1.
Lipscomb, who was selected by Washington in the third round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft (No. 84 overall), has a successful track record. He was a key player in the Vols’ 2022 Southeastern Conference Tournament and regular-season championship wins.
During his final season at Tennessee in 2022, Lipscomb appeared in 66 games and recorded impressive stats, including 22 home runs, 84 RBIs, 68 runs, 89 hits, 19 doubles, three triples, 26 walks, and four stolen bases.
