The St. Louis Cardinals Face Tough Decisions as Trade Deadline Approaches

The July 31st trade deadline is quickly approaching and the St. Louis Cardinals are facing some tough decisions. Despite a less than ideal start to the second half of the season, the team is not giving up hope and not everyone is on the chopping block.

In a recent interview with MLB.com’s John Denton, president of baseball operations John Mozeliak revealed that both Sonny Gray and Willson Contreras have not changed their minds about waiving their no-trade clause at this time.

“Our plans are fluid,” Mozeliak stated. He also added that a strong performance in the upcoming games against the Rockies and Padres could potentially shift the team’s thinking.
