Jake Cronenworth Proves His Trade Value with Strong Performance Against Cardinals

San Diego Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth has been the subject of trade interest in recent days, and he showed exactly why with a standout performance in Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Cronenworth’s 1-for-3 night included a crucial double and two runs scored, ultimately leading the Padres to a 3-1 victory over the Cardinals.

The action started in the second inning when Cronenworth was hit by a pitch and reached first base. He then scored on a single by Bryce Johnson, taking advantage of a throwing error by Cardinals centerfielder Victor Scott II.

St. Louis tied the game in the bottom of the second, but Cronenworth came back in the fourth inning with another double, eventually scoring on a sacrifice bunt by Johnson to give the Padres a 2-1 lead.

The Padres added an insurance run in the ninth inning, thanks to a hard-hit ground ball by Fernando Tatis Jr. that resulted in a throwing error and allowed Johnson to score.

On the mound, Randy Vasquez put in a solid performance, allowing just one run on one hit in 4 2/3 innings. The bullpen held strong, with Adrian Morejon, Jeremiah Estrada, and Jason Adam all pitching scoreless innings. Closer Robert Suarez sealed the deal in the ninth, securing the win for the Padres.

With this impressive showing, Cronenworth has proven his value to the Padres and potential trade suitors. The team will look to continue their success in the final game of the series against the Cardinals on Sunday.
