Graham Pauley Crushes First Home Run as Marlins Defeat Cardinals 5-0

In a stunning display of power, Graham Pauley launched his first home run for the Miami Marlins, propelling them to a 5-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night. But it wasn’t just Pauley’s impressive hit that secured the win for the Marlins – Sandy Alcantara’s dominant pitching performance and a strong bullpen effort also played a crucial role.

Alcantara, who improved his record to 6-9, held the Cardinals scoreless for five innings, allowing only three hits while striking out four and hitting two batters. But the Marlins’ pitching prowess didn’t stop there. Calvin Faucher, Ronny Henriquez, and Valente Bellozo combined to pitch four scoreless innings, striking out six batters and solidifying the team’s shutout victory.

With this win, the Marlins have proven that they are a force to be reckoned with and are ready to take on any challenge that comes their way. Keep an eye on Pauley and the rest of the Marlins as they continue to make waves in the league.

Marlins’ Pauley Hits First Home Run, Alcantara Pitches Shutout in 5-0 Win Against Cardinals

In a dominant performance, the Miami Marlins defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 5-0 on Tuesday night. Pitcher Sandy Alcantara led the way with five scoreless innings, while Graham Pauley hit his first home run for the Marlins.

Alcantara (6-9) was in control throughout the game, giving up only three hits and striking out four batters. The Marlins’ bullpen also delivered, with Calvin Faucher, Ronny Henriquez, and Valente Bellozo combining for four scoreless innings and six strikeouts.

The game got off to an exciting start as Troy Johnston, in his first major league game, singled off Cardinals’ starter Sonny Gray in his first at-bat. Pauley then followed with a home run to give the Marlins an early 2-0 lead. This was a special moment for Johnston, who had played 636 career games in the minors before making his major league debut.

In the fifth inning, Kyle Stowers hit a double and Otto Lopez drove him in with an RBI single, breaking a 13-at-bat hitless streak and extending the Marlins’ lead to 3-0. In the sixth, Dane Myers and Eric Wagaman added to the lead with an RBI double and a run-scoring triple, respectively, making it 5-0.

The Cardinals had a chance to get back in the game in the fifth inning when they loaded the bases, but Alcantara struck out Alec Burleson to end the threat. St. Louis struggled offensively throughout the game, managing only four hits and striking out 10 times. This was their 10th shutout loss of the season.

Marlins’ Victor Scott II had a standout performance, stealing two bases and tying for second in the National League with 29 steals this season. The Cardinals’ John King also had a strong showing, retiring two batters before leaving the game due to an apparent injury in the ninth inning.

The Marlins will look to continue their success on Wednesday with Cal Quantrill (3-8, 4.95 ERA) on the mound, while the Cardinals will turn to Miles Mikolas (6-7, 4.94) in hopes of bouncing back from this loss.
