St. Louis Legend Al Hrabosky to be Inducted into Cardinals Hall of Fame
ST. LOUIS – After a lifetime of dedication to the St. Louis Cardinals, Al Hrabosky is finally getting the recognition he deserves. The former pitcher and beloved TV/radio broadcaster will be honored with an induction into the Cardinals Hall of Fame next month.
Hrabosky, known as “The Mad Hungarian” during his playing days, sat down with FOX 2 Sports Director Martin Kilcoyne on Sports Final to reflect on his upcoming induction and his storied career with the Cardinals.
For Hrabosky, being inducted into the Cardinals Hall of Fame is the ultimate honor. “It’s the pinnacle of my career,” he said. “I never thought I’d be in the same category as the great players that have gone before me.”
During his time with the Cardinals, Hrabosky became a fan favorite for his fiery personality and dominant pitching. He spent 13 seasons with the team, earning an All-Star selection and leading the league in saves in 1975.
But it wasn’t just his on-field performance that made Hrabosky a beloved figure in St. Louis. He also spent over 20 years as a broadcaster for the team, providing insightful commentary and entertaining stories for fans.
As he prepares for his induction, Hrabosky is grateful for the support he has received from the Cardinals organization and the city of St. Louis. “I’m just so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this great organization,” he said.
