The Dodgers were held scoreless for the majority of the game, managing to tally only three hits against Gray. But in the ninth inning, they showed signs of life as they loaded the bases with two outs.

However, it was St. Louis pinch-hitter Yohel Pozo who stole the show with a game-leading RBI single, giving the Cardinals the lead. The Dodgers were unable to respond in their final three outs, sealing their defeat.

Despite the loss, the Dodgers still hold a strong record of 65-48 and remain at the top of their division. But this game serves as a reminder that even the best teams can struggle at times, and every game counts in the race for the playoffs.

Both teams were able to score runs with home runs, with Masyn Winn hitting a 389-foot homer for the Cardinals and Freddie Freeman responding with a 387-foot shot for the Dodgers. Iván Herrera also hit a 428-foot homer for the Cardinals in the eighth inning, but Teoscar Hernández’s double and subsequent run tied the game at 2-2 for the Dodgers.

Stewart and O’Brien Earn Wins for Cardinals, Stewart Gives Up Game-Winning RBI Single

Riley O’Brien earned his first career win for the Cardinals, despite giving up the lead in the eighth inning. Newly acquired Dodgers reliever Brock Stewart gave up the game-winning RBI single to Yohel Pozo in the ninth inning, ultimately securing the win for the Cardinals.

Dodgers Remain Focused on World Series Goal

Despite the loss, the Dodgers remain focused on their ultimate goal of winning a World Series. “Our goal hasn’t changed. It’s to win a World Series,” said Roberts. He also praised Glasnow’s performance and his ability to overcome challenges and continue to improve.
