The City of St. Louis Allocates Funds for Tornado Relief and Recovery Efforts
The devastating tornado that struck St. Louis on May 16th left many in need of assistance. In response, numerous non-profit organizations have been working tirelessly to help those affected by the disaster. Now, the City of St. Louis is recognizing their efforts by awarding funds from the Rams Settlement Funds for the Tornado Relief and Recovery Fund.
“Our non-profit partners have been on the front lines, providing aid and support to our neighbors in need,” says Mayor Cara Spencer. “Their dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed, and we are grateful for their contributions. As a way to show our appreciation and continue supporting these organizations, the City has allocated funds for reimbursement grants.”
The City will be partnering with the United Way of Greater St. Louis to distribute the funds. Eligible non-profits can apply for grants of up to $150,000 to cover expenses incurred between May 16th and August 31st. The total amount available for these grants is $3,500,000.00, with administrative fees deducted by the United Way.
Expenses that may be covered by the grants include providing resources, emergency contracts, staff support, temporary housing, and funding. “Our non-profit partners have been working alongside city workers since the tornado hit our city nearly three months ago,” says Julian Nicks, Chief Recovery and Neighborhood Transformation Officer. “These funds allow the City to show its gratitude and commitment to long-term recovery efforts.”
Eligible non-profits can submit their proposals through the City’s website. A list of requirements can also be found on the Human Services website. The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. on September 19, 2025.
