The City of St. Louis and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department are encouraging residents, block units, and neighborhood organizations across the city to register their National Night Out celebrations before the Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. deadline.National Night Out will take place Tuesday, October 6, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. throughout the City of St. Louis. The annual event provides an opportunity for residents to come together with their neighbors, strengthen neighborhood relationships, encourage community involvement, and help build safer, stronger, and more connected communities.”Strong neighborhoods are those where people know their neighbors, look out for one another, and feel connected to the community around them,” said Mayor Cara Spencer. “National Night Out gives St. Louisans an opportunity to make those connections, whether their neighborhood has been organizing for years or residents are coming together for the first time. I encourage neighborhoods across our city to register, bring people together on October 6, and use that evening as a rallying point for continued engagement throughout the year.”Already, 134 National Night Out celebrations have been registered across St. Louis, surpassing the 124 celebrations registered in 2025. City officials are encouraging even more neighborhoods to participate before registration closes.National Night Out can also serve as a starting point for continued neighborhood engagement beyond October 6. Residents who do not currently have an organized block unit are encouraged to use the event as an opportunity to meet their neighbors, discuss establishing a block unit, and identify a block captain or neighborhood point of contact who can help residents stay connected throughout the year.”Public safety is strongest when there are meaningful relationships between residents, their neighbors, and the officers who serve their communities,” said St. Louis Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Tracy. “National Night Out gives us an opportunity to strengthen those relationships outside of an emergency or a call for service.
