Cardinals’ Burleson Out of Lineup for Series Opener Against Rays

In a surprising turn of events, the St. Louis Cardinals have announced that outfielder Alec Burleson will not be starting in tonight’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. This unexpected change in the lineup has left fans and analysts speculating about the reason behind Burleson’s absence.

According to sources close to the team, Burleson was scratched from the lineup due to a minor injury sustained during warm-ups. While the extent of the injury is unknown, it was deemed serious enough to keep him out of the game.

This news comes as a blow to the Cardinals, who have been relying on Burleson’s strong performance at the plate. In his last game, he hit a crucial home run that helped secure a win for the team. His absence will undoubtedly be felt in tonight’s game.

Replacing Burleson in the lineup will be veteran outfielder, Dexter Fowler. Fowler, who has been struggling with his own injuries this season, will have the opportunity to prove himself and contribute to the team’s success.

The Cardinals will have to work hard to overcome the loss of Burleson, but with their strong lineup and determination, they are still expected to put up a tough fight against the Rays. Fans will have to wait and see how this unexpected change will affect the outcome of the game

Cardinals’ Alec Burleson Scratched from Lineup with Wrist Discomfort

The St. Louis Cardinals were dealt a blow on Friday afternoon as left fielder Alec Burleson was scratched from the lineup just hours before their game against the Tampa Bay Rays. The rookie outfielder was sidelined due to discomfort in his right wrist, which he injured during Thursday’s game, according to MLB.com’s John Denton.

Rookie outfielder Nathan Church will take Burleson’s place in the lineup, playing in centerfield, while Lars Nootbaar will shift to left field. This is the third injury to hit the Cardinals’ lineup in the past 10 days, with first baseman Willson Contreras and centerfielder Victor Scott also dealing with injuries.

However, there is some good news for the Cardinals as third baseman Nolan Arenado is expected to return soon. Arenado has been on the injured list since August 1, but has been rehabbing at the Cardinals’ Spring Training complex in Florida.

The Cardinals currently have a record of 64-65 with 33 games left in the season. Despite winning three of their last four games, they are still four games back in the National League wild card race. In order to make the postseason, the Cardinals will need to get healthy and go on a hot streak.
