St. Louis Cardinals All-Star Brendan Donovan Scratched from Friday’s Game Due to Foot Soreness

In a disappointing turn of events, the highly anticipated matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees on Friday will be missing one of its star players. Brendan Donovan, who was set to lead off and play second base, has been scratched from the lineup due to left foot soreness.

This is not the first time Donovan has been sidelined by leg and foot injuries. He was previously forced to miss four games after being taken out of a game against the Toronto Blue Jays on June 10 due to a sprained capsule in his left big toe.

The Cardinals have not released any further information on the severity of Donovan’s current injury or how long he is expected to be out of the game. However, his absence will surely be felt by both his team and fans alike.

St. Louis Cardinals All-Star Brendan Donovan Scratched from Friday’s Game with Foot Injury

St. Louis, MO – The St. Louis Cardinals will be without All-Star second baseman Brendan Donovan for Friday’s game against the New York Yankees. Donovan was scratched from the lineup due to left foot soreness, leaving the team short-handed for the matchup.

Donovan, who was scheduled to bat leadoff and play second base, has been dealing with leg and foot injuries since June. He missed four games earlier this season after being removed from a game against Toronto with a sprained capsule in his left big toe. The 27-year-old was also held out of two games against the Cubs in August due to left groin soreness.

Despite his injuries, Donovan has been a key player for the Cardinals this season, batting .279 with nine home runs and 45 RBIs. However, his performance has dipped since his toe injury, hitting just .234 in 46 games.

The Cardinals were already facing a short-handed lineup on Friday as catcher Willson Contreras remained out with a right foot contusion sustained from a pitch in Tuesday’s game against the Colorado Rockies. The team will have to rely on their remaining players to step up and fill the gaps in the lineup.

Stay tuned for updates on Donovan’s condition and the Cardinals’ lineup for Friday’s game.
