The St. Louis Cardinals: A Team on the Rise?

The St. Louis Cardinals may be well out of contention, but they are not giving up just yet. Despite being 6 1/2 games back of the third National League Wild Card spot and 13 games back in the NL Central, they have shown some promising signs in their recent series against the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

In fact, the Cardinals were able to secure a series win against the Dodgers and even reached the .500 mark, giving them a boost of momentum as they head into a crucial home series against their archrivals, the Chicago Cubs.

While they were sellers at the trade deadline this summer, dealing away relievers Ryan Helsley, Phil Maton, and Steven Matz, the Cardinals are not ready to throw away their season just yet. As the Detroit Tigers proved last year, selling at the trade deadline does not always mean giving up on the season entirely.

According to Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report, the Cardinals may still have a chance to turn things around and make a push for the playoffs. With their recent series win and a renewed sense of determination, the Cardinals could be a team on the rise in the second half of the season.
