The End of an Era for the Cardinals: Two-Time All-Star Starting Pitcher’s Final Games?
The St. Louis Cardinals may be bidding farewell to one of their star players, as their two-time All-Star starting pitcher’s time with the team could be coming to an end.
St. Louis Cardinals Expected to Part Ways with Two-Time All-Star After 2025
The St. Louis Cardinals have been making some major moves after the trade deadline, and it looks like another one could be on the horizon. According to sources, the team is considering parting ways with starting pitcher Miles Mikolas.
FanSided’s Zachary Rotman believes that it’s time for the Red Birds to cut ties with Mikolas, stating that “starting him every fifth day doesn’t help St. Louis’ organization.” With his performance on the mound declining, it’s clear that Mikolas is no longer a valuable asset to the team.
While it may make more sense for the Cardinals to wait until the end of the season to make this move, it’s clear that Mikolas’ time with the team is coming to an end. Cutting him now could cause tension between the two sides, especially since the Cardinals are still in the running for a playoff spot.
Once an elite pitcher, Mikolas’ glory days are long gone. With a 4.97 ERA and a high number of home runs surrendered, it’s clear that his stats are well below average. Despite being a two-time All-Star and the NL wins leader in 2018, Mikolas has struggled this year with a 6-9 record and only 79 strikeouts. It’s time for the Cardinals to move on and find a new ace for their rotation.
