The St. Louis Cardinals are on track to shatter their 30-year low attendance record
The St. Louis Cardinals, one of the most beloved and successful teams in Major League Baseball, are facing a concerning trend this season. With a current average attendance of just over 26,000 per game, the Cardinals are on pace to break their record for lowest attendance in the past three decades.
This news comes as a shock to many fans and analysts, as the Cardinals have consistently been one of the top teams in terms of attendance. In fact, they have not had a season with an average attendance below 30,000 since 1996.
The decline in attendance can be attributed to a variety of factors, including the team’s performance on the field, ticket prices, and the overall fan experience at the stadium. The Cardinals have struggled this season, currently sitting in fourth place in their division with a record of 50-50.
Additionally, ticket prices for Cardinals games have increased in recent years, making it more difficult for fans to attend games on a regular basis. This, combined with the rise of alternative forms of entertainment, has led to a decrease in attendance at Busch Stadium.
Despite these challenges, the Cardinals organization remains optimistic and is taking steps to improve the fan experience and attract more attendees. They have implemented new promotions and events, as well as offering discounted tickets for certain games.</
Cardinals’ Fans Speak Out as Attendance Numbers Hit Record Low Since 1995
Busch Stadium, once known for its packed stands of St. Louis Cardinals fans, has seen a significant decline in attendance this season. With low expectations for the team and a current record below .500, fans are not flocking to the ballpark as they have in the past.
But it’s not just a lack of success on the field that has fans frustrated. They are making their voices heard, and the numbers don’t lie. The Cardinals are on track to have their lowest attendance rate since 1995, excluding the COVID-19 affected year.
According to Fox 2’s Joey Schneider, “Through 65 home games, the Cardinals have generated a total attendance of 1,873,875, based on the metrics of tickets sold. Right now, that’s an average attendance of around 28,829. If that pace remains similar through the regular season’s end, the Cardinals are on pace for a season attendance of roughly 2,335,137.”
As the 2025 season comes to a close, all eyes will be on Chaim Bloom, the Cardinals’ new president of baseball operations. With the task of bringing success back to St. Louis, Bloom will have to find the next generation of star players to fill the void left by legends like Albert Pujols, Adam Wainwright, and Yadier Molina.
It’s clear that the fanbase is hungry for a return to the winning ways they have come to expect from the Cardinals. Only time will tell if Bloom can deliver and bring the fans back to Busch Stadium.
