The St. Louis Cardinals Fight to Stay in Playoff Race as 2025 All-Star Game Approaches

The St. Louis Cardinals are pulling out all the stops as they strive to secure a spot in the playoffs with the All-Star Game just around the corner on July 15. Despite undergoing a rebuilding phase after missing the postseason for the past two years, the Cardinals are currently only 5 1/2 games behind the first-place Chicago Cubs in the National League Central and 1 1/2 games out of an NL Wild Card spot.

However, the road ahead for the Cardinals may prove to be a challenging one as they enter the second half of the 2025 season. According to ESPN’s Tristain H. Cockcroft, the Cardinals have the second-most difficult schedule for hitters after the New York Mets. Cockcroft noted that the Cardinals’ second-half schedule includes a tough six-game road trip to Chase Field and Coors Field, followed by a series of tough matchups that will put their hitting abilities to the test.

Despite being 3.8% worse than their first-half performance, the Cardinals are determined to overcome the odds and make a comeback in the second half of the season. As an 11-time World Series champion, the team is no stranger to overcoming challenges and will undoubtedly give it their all to secure a spot in the playoffs. Only time will tell if the Cardinals have what it takes to rise to the top once again.
