The Cardinals Confirm: No Structural Damage in Willson Contreras’ Foot

In a sigh of relief for Chicago Cubs fans, the St. Louis Cardinals have announced that X-rays have shown no signs of structural damage in catcher Willson Contreras’ foot. This news comes after Contreras was hit by a pitch during a game against the Cardinals on Sunday.

According to team officials, Contreras underwent X-rays immediately after the incident and they came back negative. This means that there are no fractures or breaks in his foot, easing concerns about a potential long-term injury.

The 27-year-old catcher was seen limping off the field after being hit by a 91 mph fastball from Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty. He was then taken out of the game and replaced by Victor Caratini.

Contreras has been a key player for the Cubs this season, with a batting average of .275 and 19 home runs. Losing him to a serious injury would have been a major blow to the team’s playoff hopes.

Fortunately, it seems that Contreras will only need some rest and recovery time before returning to the field. The Cubs have not yet announced a timeline for his return, but it is expected that he will be back in action soon.

St. Louis Cardinals’ Willson Contreras Sidelined After Frustrating Injury

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Cardinals will be without their star first baseman, Willson Contreras, for their game against the Colorado Rockies. Contreras was hit in the foot by a pitch and broke his bat in frustration during the previous game.

Contreras, who is listed as day-to-day with a right foot contusion, was struck by a pitch from Rockies’ starter Kyle Freeland in the fourth inning. In a fit of anger, he then slammed his bat into the ground and snapped it over his knee.

As he made his way to first base, the 33-year-old threw the two pieces of his broken bat towards the Cardinals’ dugout. He continued to play until the sixth inning, when he was replaced by Nolan Gorman.

The Cardinals have announced that X-rays showed no structural damage in Contreras’ foot. However, he has been hit by a league-leading 18 pitches this season, second only to Randy Arozarena and Ty France.

Despite the injury, Contreras remains a key player for the Cardinals, leading the team with 16 home runs and 65 RBIs. His absence will be felt as the team looks to secure a win against the Rockies.
