The Chicago Cubs Struggle with Pitching Injuries, but Left-Hander Matthew Boyd Steps Up

The Chicago Cubs have been hit hard by injuries to their pitching staff this season, and the latest blow came when Jameson Taillon was placed on the injured list. However, the team has found a silver lining in the form of left-hander Matthew Boyd, who has emerged as a reliable starter for the struggling rotation.

“Losing (Justin) Steele so early and then obviously losing Shota (Imanaga) for almost two months, we really needed Matt to step up, especially with some of the young guys sort of getting their feet wet,” Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer stated.

Boyd, who boasts an impressive record of 8-3 and a 2.65 ERA, will take the mound on Sunday as the Cubs face off against the Cardinals in the final game of their three-game series.
