The Dodgers May Consider Shifting Mookie Betts to Right Field

After a disappointing season, the Los Angeles Dodgers are already making moves to improve their roster for next year. One potential change that has been discussed is moving star outfielder Mookie Betts back to his natural position in right field.

Betts, who was acquired by the Dodgers in a blockbuster trade with the Boston Red Sox last year, played primarily in right field during his time with the Red Sox. However, due to the presence of Cody Bellinger in right field, Betts was shifted to center field for the Dodgers.

While Betts performed admirably in center field, winning his fifth Gold Glove award, some believe that he would be even more effective in right field. With Bellinger’s versatility and the emergence of AJ Pollock in center field, the Dodgers have the flexibility to make this change.

Not only would this move benefit Betts defensively, but it could also improve his offensive production. In right field, Betts would have a shorter throw to make to home plate, potentially allowing him to take more risks on the base paths and steal more bases.

Of course, this decision ultimately lies in the hands of Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. But with

Los Angeles Dodgers May Have Interest in Trading for Future Hall of Famer Nolan Arenado

Many may be surprised to hear that the Los Angeles Dodgers are considering a trade for St. Louis Cardinals third baseman and future Hall of Famer Nolan Arenado. While it may not have been on their radar initially, the Dodgers may have no other choice but to pursue a trade for a third baseman if Max Muncy’s injury continues to hinder his progress.

Dodgers Linked to Arenado in Recent Months

Multiple sources, including Just Baseball, have linked the Dodgers to Arenado in recent months. While the reason for this potential trade may have initially been Muncy’s injury, there are other factors at play. The Cardinals may be looking to move on from Arenado and a change of scenery could benefit both parties. Additionally, moving Mookie Betts back to right field could improve the Dodgers’ overall team dynamic.

Betts’ Return to Outfield Solves Two Problems

If the Dodgers do end up trading for Arenado, it would allow Betts to return to the outfield, solving two problems at once. The Dodgers could also consider internal solutions, such as benching Michael Conforto and having Miguel Rojas platoon with Hyeseong Kim at shortstop. However, a trade for Arenado may be the most beneficial move for the team.

Cardinals Should Focus on Getting the Best Package in Return

Ultimately, the Cardinals should not be too concerned about where they send Arenado as long as they receive a strong package in return. With the trade deadline approaching, it will be interesting to see if the Dodgers or any other team make a move for the veteran third baseman.
