Kyle Freeland Dominates as Rockies Snap Losing Streak Against Cardinals
In a much-needed win for the Colorado Rockies, pitcher Kyle Freeland delivered a stellar performance on Tuesday night against the St. Louis Cardinals. Giving up only five hits in a season-high 7 1/3 innings, Freeland led the Rockies to a 3-0 victory, breaking their eight-game losing streak.
Freeland (3-12) showed his dominance on the mound, walking only two batters and striking out two in his longest outing since his career-best 8 1/3-inning performance against the Chicago White Sox on July 9, 2017.
The Rockies’ offense was also on fire, with Hunter Goodman hitting a home run to contribute to the team’s three runs. But it was Freeland’s impressive pitching that stole the show and secured the much-needed win for the struggling Rockies.
The game was not without its tense moments, as the Cardinals threatened to score in the eighth inning. However, Freeland remained composed and was able to get out of the jam, leaving the Cardinals scoreless.
The Rockies’ bullpen also played a crucial role in securing the win, with Victor Vodnik pitching the final 1 2/3 innings and earning his third save of the season. This also marked the team’s second shutout of the season, after previously blanking the Cardinals in Denver on July 23.
With this win, the Rockies hope to turn their season around and continue their momentum in the upcoming games. And with Freeland’s dominant performance, they have a strong chance of doing just that.
