The DRC at Sumner High School Parking Lot to Permanently Close on August 11

The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) located in the parking lot of Sumner High School in St. Louis City will be closing permanently this Monday, August 11 at 7 p.m. Two other DRCs will remain open until further notice.

FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are providing assistance to those affected by the disaster, including helping with applications, answering questions, and uploading necessary documents. For specific details and operating hours of each center, please visit the Disaster Recovery Center page.

Application Deadline Extended to August 26

The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance for the May 16 disaster has been extended to August 26, 2025. To save time, it is recommended to apply for assistance online or by calling 1-800-621-3362 before visiting a DRC. However, if you are unable to apply online or by phone, assistance will be available at the DRC.

Even after the deadline, impacted residents can still reach out to FEMA and SBA for financial assistance with home repairs, rent, and other needs not covered by insurance.

Helpful Tips:

  • Read your letter from FEMA carefully.
  • Provide contractor estimates for disaster-related repairs, including contractor contact information.
  • Contact FEMA to request assistance with rent.
  • If you have received rental assistance from FEMA and need further assistance while working towards a permanent housing plan, stay in touch with FEMA to see if Continued Temporary Housing Assistance (CTHA) is available.
  • Have your nine-digit number assigned when you applied for FEMA assistance when contacting them.
  • Keep receipts for disaster-related purchases.
  • Contact FEMA if your housing situation, phone number, or mailing address have changed.
