LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawks have another reason to celebrate as one of their star players, Alex Breckheimer, was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2025 MLB Draft.
Breckheimer, a standout reliever for KU, was selected in the 16th round with the 480th overall pick. He had an impressive record of 5-0 with a 3.56 ERA and seven saves in his lone season with the Jayhawks in 2025.
This is a huge accomplishment for Breckheimer and the KU baseball program, as he joins the ranks of other talented players who have been drafted into the MLB.

In a thrilling turn of events, Lawrence, Kansas was buzzing with excitement as another member of the Kansas Jayhawks heard his name called on Day 2 of the 2025 MLB Draft.
