Savannah Bananas Bring in Former Cardinals Pitchers for Surprise Appearances in St. Louis

The Savannah Bananas made their first trip to St. Louis one to remember, with three former Cardinals pitchers making surprise appearances on the mound. Adam Wainwright took the mound on Friday, followed by Lance Lynn and Jason Isringhausen on Saturday. All three received thunderous ovations from the crowd as they closed out an inning wearing their longtime Cardinals numbers.

Wainwright and Lynn both ended their cameos with flyouts, while Isringhausen needed just one pitch to get the job done. Despite initially turning down the opportunity, Isringhausen’s daughters convinced him to take the mound for one pitch, one out.

The Savannah Bananas are known for their fan-focused approach and unique twists on traditional baseball. In the past, they have welcomed former MLB pitchers such as Cy Young winners Corey Kluber and Jake Peavy for brief outings. This weekend, they took it to another level by inviting three popular 21st-century Cardinals pitchers.

Isringhausen praised the Bananas for their support and entertaining style of play, saying “What they do with the crowd, the fans, and the kids is pretty amazing.” He also noted that the Bananas’ two-hour time limit and rule that fly balls caught by fans count as outs keeps everyone involved and engaged in the game.

Together, Wainwright, Lynn, and Isringhausen have an impressive combined record of 296 wins, 221 saves, and 3,603 strikeouts as Cardinals pitchers.

The Savannah Bananas drew crowds of over 44,000 fans for both games and swept a two-game set against their exhibition rivals, the Party Animals. This unique and exciting event was a hit with fans and players alike, showcasing the Bananas’ commitment to providing a fun and entertaining experience for all.
