SAN DIEGO (AP) — The St. Louis Cardinals put an end to the San Diego Padres’ six-game win streak with an 8-5 victory on Saturday night. The Cardinals, who had lost four in a row, came back from a 4-0 deficit to score eight unanswered runs.

St. Louis’ Pedro Pagés hit a three-run homer and Iván Herrera had three hits. Pitcher Michael McGreevy (3-2) allowed four runs and seven hits in six innings.
San Diego’s Jackson Merrill hit a solo home run and Freddy Fermin drove in two runs. Ramón Laureano also contributed with a run-scoring triple.
Merrill’s eighth homer in the third inning gave the Padres a 4-0 lead. However, the Cardinals rallied in the fourth with a single from Nolan Gorman to bring in Willson Contreras, followed by Pagés’ seventh homer against Randy Vásquez.
In the fifth inning, with two outs and runners on first and second, Winn hit a double to left field, giving the Cardinals a 6-4 lead. In the ninth inning, Alec Burleson added an RBI single and Contreras followed with a sacrifice fly to extend the Cardinals’ lead to 8-4.
JoJo Romero got four outs for his first save of the season. Fermin hit an RBI single in the ninth, but Fernando Tatis Jr. flied to right for the final out of the game.
Luis Arraez of the Padres doubled in the first inning, extending his hitting streak to 15 games, the longest active streak in the majors.
Key Moment: Pagés’ tying home run traveled 422 feet.
Key Stat: Merrill’s homer was San Diego’s 93rd of the season, the second fewest in the National League.
