Blaze Jordan Joins Memphis Redbirds Roster

Get ready, baseball fans, because Blaze Jordan has officially joined the Memphis Redbirds! The highly-touted prospect has been making waves in the minor leagues and is now ready to take the field with the Redbirds.

Jordan, known for his powerful swing and impressive fielding skills, has been making a name for himself since being drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2020. And now, he’s ready to showcase his talents in front of the Memphis crowd.

The 19-year-old first baseman has been turning heads with his impressive stats in the minor leagues, including a .300 batting average and 10 home runs in just 40 games. But it’s not just his numbers that have caught the attention of the Redbirds’ coaching staff.

“Blaze is a natural leader on and off the field,” says Redbirds manager, Mike Shildt. “He brings a level of energy and passion to the game that is contagious. We’re excited to have him on our team and see what he can do at the Triple-A level.”

Jordan’s addition to the Redbirds’ roster is sure to bring even  everything,” Jordan said.

St. Louis Cardinals Prioritize Immediate Impact with Deadline Trades in 2023, Shift Focus to Future in 2025

As the 2023 season progressed, it became clear that the St. Louis Cardinals would not be contenders and would need to make moves at the trade deadline. In hopes of a quick rebound, they focused on acquiring players who were close to being ready for the big leagues.

However, in 2025, the Cardinals’ approach was much different. Out of the six prospects they acquired at the deadline in exchange for three relievers, only one was close to being MLB-ready. The rest were sent to High-A, years away from the big leagues. Even the one reliever they received, Skylar Hayes, has struggled in Triple-A.

Blaze Jordan Brings Immediate Impact to Cardinals

For Cardinals fans, the closest they will get to immediate gratification is through Blaze Jordan. The right-handed slugger, who can play both corners of the infield, may have started off slow with a 1-for-14 record, but his impressive hit tool is expected to show up soon, just as it has at every level he has played at.

“It’s kind of surreal to be able to play [at AutoZone Park],” Jordan said at a media event on Wednesday. “Never would I have dreamed – I thought I might play as a visitor or something. It’s pretty cool for it to be my home ballpark now.”

A Local Product with High Expectations

Jordan was born and raised in Southaven, Mississippi, just a short distance from the state line and about 12 miles from the Redbirds’ home stadium. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2020 and has been working his way up through their minor league system.

But Jordan’s talent was recognized long before he was drafted. As a child, he was invited to numerous showcase events and was known for his incredible power. He even made a name for himself by hitting 500-foot home runs at just 13 years old in Major League parks.

With great talent comes great expectations, and Jordan has had to navigate the pressure of being a well-rounded player while also dealing with the spotlight of his YouTube fame. As he has progressed through the minors, he has become more focused on making contact and maintaining a high batting average, while still showcasing his impressive power.

“It was definitely a lot tougher when I was younger with all the expectations and everything,” Jordan admitted.
