In a thrilling game on Wednesday, pinch-hitter Hunter Goodman came through in the clutch for the Colorado Rockies, hitting a two-run homer in the ninth inning to rally his team to a 6-5 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
The game was tied at 4-4 heading into the final inning, but with one out, Goodman stepped up to the plate and connected on a 3-2 sinker from JoJo Romero, sending it 432 feet over the center field fence. The homer scored Kyle Karros, who had led off the inning with a walk.

ST. LOUIS – In a thrilling game on Wednesday, the Colorado Rockies came from behind to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-5, thanks to a two-run homer by pinch-hitter Hunter Goodman in the ninth inning.
The game was tied at 4-4 heading into the final inning, but with one out, Goodman stepped up to the plate and crushed a 3-2 sinker from JoJo Romero over the center field fence, scoring Kyle Karros who had led off with a walk. The homer, which traveled 432 feet, gave the Rockies the lead and ultimately the win.
Alec Burleson and Lars Nootbaar also hit home runs for the Cardinals, while Pedro Pagés had two hits and drove in two runs. Despite their efforts, it wasn’t enough to overcome Goodman’s clutch hit.
The Cardinals will now turn their attention to a three-game series against the struggling New York Yankees, starting on Friday. St. Louis’ Andre Pallante (6-9, 4.95 ERA) will take on Luis Gil (0-1, 7.27 ERA) in the opening game.
