The Twins Add Depth to Roster with Signing of Former Cardinals Pitcher

The Minnesota Twins may be behind in the playoff race, but they are not giving up just yet. In a move to strengthen their roster, the front office has agreed to a contract with former St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher, Genesis Cabrera.

According to reports, the 28-year-old Cabrera will be signing a minor league deal with the Twins on Tuesday. He will immediately join the team’s Triple-A affiliate. This season, Cabrera has made appearances for the New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Cabrera, who has a 5.79 ERA in 28 innings this year, will be a valuable addition to the Twins’ bullpen. He first began his career with the Cardinals in 2019 and has since played for the Toronto Blue Jays before joining the Twins.

With a career 4.06 ERA and 1.344 WHIP, Cabrera brings a wealth of experience to the Twins. He has recorded 290 strikeouts in 303.2 innings pitched.

The Twins have been dealing with injuries in their starting rotation, but Cabrera’s addition will provide some much-needed depth. The team is currently without Pablo Lopez, David Festa, and Simeon Woods Richardson due to injuries. However, with Cabrera on board, the Twins are hopeful for a strong finish to the season.

The Twins will face the New York Yankees on Tuesday, with Travis Adams taking the mound. It will be the second game of a three-game series.
