Pfaadt’s Pitching Leads Diamondbacks to Victory Against Cardinals

PHOENIX (AP) – In a dominant performance, Brandon Pfaadt led the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 7-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night. Pfaadt pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing only four hits and striking out six batters without giving up a single walk. This marks his second consecutive impressive start for the Diamondbacks.

The Diamondbacks’ offense was also on fire, with Geraldo Perdomo contributing two RBIs and Adrian Del Castillo adding three hits, an RBI, and two runs scored. Del Castillo, who was recently called up from Triple-A Reno, made a strong impact in his first game with the Diamondbacks.

Despite the Diamondbacks’ dominant performance, the Cardinals managed to score three runs in the ninth inning off John Curtiss. Victor Scott II hit a two-run homer and Pedro Pagés added a run with a single. However, it was not enough to overcome the Diamondbacks’ lead.

The Cardinals have now lost four of their last six games, while the Diamondbacks continue to climb in the standings. Pfaadt’s stellar pitching performance against the Cardinals follows his career-high eight innings against the San Diego Padres before the All-Star break, where he allowed only two runs on four hits and struck out six batters.

The Diamondbacks will look to continue their winning streak as they face the Cardinals again on Saturday night. With Pfaadt’s impressive pitching and the Diamondbacks’ strong offense, they are sure to be a tough team to beat.

Brandon Pfaadt Shines as Diamondbacks Defeat Cardinals 7-3

PHOENIX (AP) – In a dominant performance, Brandon Pfaadt pitched seven scoreless innings and Geraldo Perdomo drove in two runs to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 7-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.

Pfaadt (10-6) was in top form, allowing only four hits and striking out six batters without giving up a single walk. He continued his impressive streak from his last start before the All-Star break, where he also pitched eight scoreless innings.

Adrian Del Castillo, who was recently called up from Triple-A Reno, had a big night with three hits, an RBI, and two runs scored against Cardinals’ pitcher Andre Pallante (5-6).

The Cardinals managed to score three runs in the ninth inning off John Curtiss, thanks to Victor Scott II’s two-run homer and Pedro Pagés’ run-scoring single. However, it was not enough to overcome the Diamondbacks’ lead, and they ultimately lost their fourth game out of their last six.

Pfaadt’s strong performance was supported by his teammates, as they scored early and often against Pallante. In the second inning, Herrera hit a run-scoring single, followed by Perdomo’s two-run single. Del Castillo added another run in the third with a single, and Alek Thomas drove in a run with a groundout.

In the fifth inning, Blaze Alexander’s double chased Pallante out of the game and gave the Diamondbacks a 6-0 lead.

The Cardinals struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, going 2 for 9 with runners in scoring position. Their best chance came in the seventh inning when they had two runners on, but Pfaadt struck out Jordan Walker and got Pagés to fly out to center field.

The key moment of the game came in the fifth inning when Thomas made a spectacular catch against the wall in left-center to rob Walker of extra bases.

Next up, the Cardinals will send Sonny Gray (9-3, 3.50 ERA) to the mound to face Rhyne Nelson (5-2, 3.68 ERA) of the Diamondbacks in the second game of the three-game series on Saturday.
