Trade Deadline Looms as Nolan Arenado Sits Out Cardinals’ Lineup on Monday

As the trade deadline rapidly approaches, all eyes are on the St. Louis Cardinals and their star third baseman, Nolan Arenado. However, on Monday, fans were left puzzled as Arenado was noticeably absent from the team’s lineup.

Rumors have been swirling for weeks about a potential trade involving Arenado, who was acquired by the Cardinals in a blockbuster deal with the Colorado Rockies just last year. Despite his impressive performance on the field, there have been whispers that the Cardinals may be looking to move him before the deadline.

But with the deadline just a few days away, the absence of Arenado from the lineup has only added fuel to the speculation. Is this a sign that a trade is imminent? Or is there another reason for his absence?

One thing is for sure, the Cardinals are not taking any chances with their star player. With a record of 53-51 and currently sitting in third place in the NL Central, the team is in need of a strong finish to secure a spot in the playoffs. Losing Arenado would be a major blow to their chances.

As fans anxiously wait for any updates on the situation, one thing is certain: the trade deadline is sure to bring some major changes to the Cardinals’ roster. Will Arenado be a part of those changes? Only time will tell.

Cardinals Shake Up Lineup Amid Intensifying Nolan Arenado Trade Rumors

The St. Louis Cardinals are in for a wild week as trade rumors surrounding third baseman Nolan Arenado continue to heat up. But even before any potential deals are made, the Cardinals are already making changes to their lineup.

For tonight’s game against the Marlins, Arenado will not be starting at third base. This is a rare sight for Cardinals fans, as the eight-time All-Star has been a consistent presence in the lineup. However, his performance in July has been less than stellar, with a batting average of .163 and a .430 OPS in 14 games. He has also been dealing with some minor injuries, which may have contributed to his struggles.

Despite his recent slump, Arenado’s track record and exceptional defense make him an attractive option for teams in need of a third baseman. However, his trade situation is complicated by his large contract and full no-trade clause. The Houston Astros, who were previously interested in Arenado, are once again in the mix, along with the Mariners, Phillies, and Tigers.

Another notable change in the Cardinals’ lineup is the inclusion of Iván Herrera, who will be making his first-ever start in the outfield. The 25-year-old has primarily been a catcher and designated hitter for the team this season, but his impressive batting average of .313 with nine home runs and 39 RBIs has earned him a spot in the outfield. This move not only reduces the risk of injury for Herrera, but also gives the Cardinals more flexibility at the designated hitter position.

While the idea of moving Herrera to the outfield has been discussed for some time, the fact that it is happening so soon is surprising. It is speculated that the Cardinals are grooming Herrera to be their starting left fielder for the 2026 season.
