Red Birds’ Trade Market Heating Up: Two Big Names Could Be Leaving by Thursday

The trade market for the Red Birds is ablaze with rumors and speculation as two of the team’s biggest names could potentially be leaving the States by Thursday. Fans and analysts alike are buzzing with anticipation as the deadline approaches.

The St. Louis Cardinals Face a Crucial Decision at the MLB Trade Deadline: Buy or Sell?

The St. Louis Cardinals are at a crossroads as the MLB trade deadline approaches. With their position in the NL Wild Card race hanging by a thread, the team must decide whether to make moves to improve their chances or to sell off valuable assets.

Currently sitting fourth in the NL Central, the Cardinals are 4.5 games out of the Wild Card and 9.5 behind the division-leading Milwaukee Brewers. It’s a precarious position, and the team must carefully weigh their options.

Elite Players Nolan Arenado and Ryan Helsley Could Be on the Move

If the Cardinals do decide to sell, they have two elite players who could fetch a significant return: third baseman Nolan Arenado and closer Ryan Helsley. According to Shawn Childs of Fantasy Sports On SI, the Cardinals could package these two players in a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays.

This trade would benefit both teams, as the Blue Jays have been in need of a third baseman since Matt Chapman’s departure and Helsley’s impending free agency makes him a valuable asset to include in the deal.

Childs’ proposed trade would see the Blue Jays giving up starting pitcher Johnny King and second baseman Orelvis Martinez, both of whom have been performing well in the minor leagues this season.

For the Cardinals, this trade would require them to either move Nolan Gorman to third base or call up their own top prospect, J.J. Wetherholt, who was drafted seventh overall in last year’s draft.
