Yadier Molina: A Hall of Fame Worthy Catcher

John Smoltz, a Hall of Fame pitcher himself, has made a bold statement about Yadier Molina’s deserving spot in the prestigious Hall of Fame. And he’s not just whispering it, he’s screaming it from the mountaintops.

It’s no secret that Molina has been a force to be reckoned with in the world of baseball. With nine All-Star appearances, nine Gold Glove awards, and two World Series championships under his belt, he has solidified himself as one of the greatest catchers of all time.

But despite his impressive resume, there are still some doubters who question whether Molina has what it takes to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Smoltz, however, is not one of them.

In an interview with MLB Network, Smoltz passionately defended Molina’s Hall of Fame worthiness, stating, “I will scream it from the mountaintops that Yadier Molina is a Hall of Famer.”

And Smoltz has a point. Molina’s contributions to the game go far beyond his impressive statistics. He is known for his exceptional defensive skills, his ability to handle a pitching staff, and his leadership on and off the field.

But perhaps what sets Molina apart from other catchers is his longevity. In

Cardinals Legend Yadier Molina Receives Hall of Fame Recognition from Former Teammate John Smoltz

Yadier Molina, a true legend of the St. Louis Cardinals and the game of baseball, has been praised by his former teammate and Hall of Famer John Smoltz for his exceptional career. Spending all 19 years of his career with the Red Birds, Molina has proven himself to be one of the best catchers in the game, earning 10 All-Star selections, two World Series championships, and nine Gold Glove Awards.

Despite his impressive resume, there are still some who argue that Molina does not deserve a spot in the Baseball Hall of Fame due to his primarily defensive role. However, Smoltz strongly disagrees with this sentiment.

“He’s the best,” Smoltz stated in an interview with Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “Everyone kept saying for the longest time, ‘Well, you can’t make the Hall of Fame as just a defensive catcher.’ Well, I’m here to tell you he’s going to be in the Hall of Fame, and he wasn’t just a defensive catcher.”

Smoltz, a former Cy Young Award winner, went on to praise Molina’s skills behind the plate, highlighting his framing abilities and his strategic approach to the game.

“The presentation at the plate, I would argue that he was the best all time,” Smoltz said. “The one thing you knew, first of all, he could watch film forever. He was totally prepared. Every pitch was pretty much called with a purpose. He understood the game and watched hitters, understood hitting, and he exposed it. He was the threat.”

Smoltz, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015, believes that Molina will soon join him in Cooperstown when he becomes eligible. With his impressive career and the recognition from his former teammate, it’s clear that Molina’s place in the Hall of Fame is well-deserved.
