Cody Bellinger’s Three RBIs Lead Yankees to Sweep Against Cardinals

In a thrilling series finale, the New York Yankees dominated the St. Louis Cardinals with an 8-4 victory on Sunday. The game was highlighted by a standout performance from Cody Bellinger, who drove in three runs for the Yankees.

But it wasn’t just Bellinger who shined on the field. Former Cardinal Paul Goldschmidt also had a strong showing, with three hits against his former team. The Yankees’ offense was firing on all cylinders, making it difficult for the Cardinals to keep up.

However, the game wasn’t without its errors. Second baseman Thomas Saggese made two costly mistakes in the ninth inning, allowing the Yankees to score four runs and secure their sweep.

The Cardinals tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the ninth, but walks to pinch-hitter Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge loaded the bases for the Yankees, ultimately sealing their victory.

This sweep marks a strong start to the season for the Yankees, who are looking to make a statement in the league. With Bellinger and Goldschmidt leading the charge, it’s clear that the Yankees are a force to be reckoned with.

New York Yankees Sweep St. Louis Cardinals with 8-4 Victory

In a thrilling series finale, the New York Yankees swept the St. Louis Cardinals with an 8-4 victory on Sunday. The game was full of action and drama, with second baseman Thomas Saggese making two costly errors in the ninth inning that led to the Yankees’ four-run rally.

But it was Cody Bellinger who stole the show, driving in three runs and leading the Yankees to their third consecutive win against the Cardinals. Former Cardinal Paul Goldschmidt also had a standout performance, with three hits against his former team.

The game was tied at 4-4 in the seventh inning when Trent Grishman drew a leadoff walk and scored on Bellinger’s sacrifice fly. But it was the ninth inning that sealed the deal for the Yankees, with Saggese’s errors allowing the Yankees to load the bases and score three more runs.

St. Louis manager Oliver Marmol was ejected in the seventh inning, adding to the intensity of the game. And in the fourth inning, Yankees coach Tanner Swanson was also ejected.

But the key moment of the game came in the second inning, when Goldschmidt received a standing ovation from the St. Louis crowd. He showed his appreciation by doffing his helmet to the fans.

With this win, the Yankees have now swept the Cardinals for the first time since 2017. The Cardinals, on the other hand, have been swept six times this season.

The Yankees will have a day off on Monday before facing the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. The Cardinals will take on the Miami Marlins on Monday night.
