In our Cardinals Nation update:
The highly anticipated Major League Baseball All-Star game is set to take place on Tuesday night in Atlanta. And representing the St. Louis Cardinals will be none other than utility man Brendan Donovan.
Hailing from South Alabama, Donovan will almost feel like he’s playing in his hometown. And with the best season of his four-year big league career, he has certainly earned his spot on the All-Star team.
Currently boasting a .297 batting average, eight home runs, and 36 RBI, Donovan has been a standout player for the Cardinals this season. In fact, he has recorded 11 three-hit games, the second-highest in the National League, and three four-hit games, the most in the senior circuit.
Having played in 103 games this season, Donovan has showcased his versatility by playing every infield position as well as left field for St. Louis. While he may not start in the All-Star game, he is expected to make an appearance later in the night.
