The Los Angeles Dodgers Make Roster Changes Ahead of Next Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made some major changes to their roster in preparation for their upcoming series. Just one week after the MLB Trade Deadline, the franchise has announced a new addition to their infield and a new assignment for a right-handed pitcher.

The team took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the news that they have claimed IF Luken Baker from the St. Louis Cardinals and designated RHP Jack Little for assignment. This move brings in some much-needed depth at first base for the Dodgers.

Baker, a 28-year-old, made his MLB debut in 2023 and has played in a total of 19 games for the Cardinals. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 285 pounds, he has recorded eight hits and scored three runs, but has a batting average of .235.

On the other hand, Little has been struggling with an ERA of 6.00 and has allowed 10 hits in his recent performances. The Dodgers have decided to give him a new assignment in hopes of improving his performance.

The Los Angeles Dodgers Make Roster Changes Ahead of Next Series and One Week After MLB Trade Deadline

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made some major changes to their roster in preparation for their upcoming series and just one week after the MLB Trade Deadline. In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), the franchise revealed that they have acquired a new infielder and designated a right-handed pitcher for assignment.

New Infielder Joins Dodgers Roster

The Dodgers have claimed IF Luken Baker from the St. Louis Cardinals, adding depth to their first base position. The 28-year-old made his MLB debut in 2023 and has played in a total of 19 games for the Cardinals, recording eight hits and three runs with a batting average of .235.

Right-Handed Pitcher Designated for Assignment

In addition to the new infielder, the Dodgers have also designated RHP Jack Little for assignment. Little has delivered an ERA of 6.00 and allowed four hits in the last seven games.

Manager Dave Roberts Makes Changes to Lineup

As the Dodgers prepare to face the National League Central’s fourth-place team, manager Dave Roberts has made some changes to the lineup. Shohei Ohtani will return to the leadoff hitting spot, with Mookie Betts moving down in the order. Betts, who was originally elevated to leadoff to boost his confidence, has been struggling at the plate with a batting average of .235 and 11 home runs. Ohtani’s return to the top of the order is expected to provide a spark for the team.

World Series Champion Traded to Boston Red Sox

On deadline day, the Dodgers made a major change involving the pitching staff. World Series champion Dustin May was traded to the Boston Red Sox, boosting their playoff hopes. May himself expressed sadness about leaving the Dodgers but is excited to join the Red Sox.

Baker Claim Provides Depth at First Base

The acquisition of Luken Baker will provide much-needed depth at first base for the Dodgers. With Max Muncy and Enrique Hernandez on the injured list, Baker will join Dalton Rushing as the only healthy options at first base. This move will also give Freddie Freeman some relief at the position.
