Eugenio Suárez Goes Yard Twice as Diamondbacks Dominate Cardinals 10-1

In a stunning display of power, Eugenio Suárez launched two home runs while Corbin Carroll added two triples to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks to a commanding 10-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday.

Carroll, who currently leads the big leagues with an impressive 12 triples, showcased his speed and agility on the basepaths, while Suárez proved to be a force to be reckoned with at the plate. The All-Star third baseman now has a total of 33 homers under his belt, solidifying his position as one of the best power hitters in the league.

However, despite their strong performance, the Diamondbacks’ future remains uncertain. With a record of 49-50, they are on the cusp of the National League playoff race, leaving fans and analysts wondering if they will be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. Only time will tell if the D-backs will make a move to strengthen their roster or if they will hold onto their key players, including the coveted Suárez.

PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks dominated the St. Louis Cardinals with a 10-1 victory on Saturday, led by two home runs from Eugenio Suárez and two triples from Corbin Carroll.

Suárez, who has five multi-homer games this season, including a four-homer night on April 26, is in an intriguing spot as the trade deadline approaches. The All-Star third baseman has 33 homers and is arguably the best power bat on the market. However, it remains uncertain if the D-backs, with a 49-50 record on the fringe of the National League playoff race, will be buyers or sellers.

Carroll, who leads the big leagues with 12 triples, set the tone for the D-backs with a leadoff triple in the first inning. Geraldo Perdomo then brought him home with a single, and Josh Naylor reached on catcher’s interference before Suárez hit a two-run homer to left field.

The D-backs continued to build their lead, scoring two more runs in the second inning with RBI singles from Blaze Alexander and Perdomo. Suárez added to the lead with a solo shot to right center in the third inning.

St. Louis right-hander Sonny Gray struggled, giving up a season-high nine runs, including eight earned, over 3 1/3 innings. He allowed 11 hits and struck out five.

Alec Burleson’s solo homer in the sixth inning was the only run for the Cardinals, who have lost 10 of their past 14 games.

The key moment of the game was Carroll’s leadoff triple, which foreshadowed the offensive onslaught that was to come. The Diamondbacks also scored at least one run in each of the first four innings.

The series finale on Sunday will feature the Cardinals’ Miles Mikolas (5-6, 4.94 ERA) against the D-backs’ Merrill Kelly (8-5, 3.34 ERA).
