Erick Fedde’s Brewers Debut Falls Short
It was a rough start for pitcher Erick Fedde as he made his debut with the Milwaukee Brewers. The 28-year-old right-hander, who was acquired from the Washington Nationals in a trade last week, had a tough time on the mound against the Chicago Cubs.
Fedde, who was called up from the minor leagues to fill in for an injured starter, gave up five runs in just three innings of work. He struggled with his command, walking three batters and giving up six hits, including a home run.
The Brewers had high hopes for Fedde, who had a solid record in the minor leagues and showed promise in his previous stint with the Nationals. But unfortunately, his first outing with his new team did not go as planned.
Despite the disappointing performance, Fedde remains optimistic and is determined to bounce back in his next start. “It’s definitely not the debut I was hoping for, but I’ll learn from it and come back stronger,” he said in a post-game interview.
The Brewers will need Fedde to regroup quickly as they continue their push
Former Cardinals Pitcher Struggles in Brewers Debut After Second Release of 2025

The St. Louis Cardinals have made some major changes to their roster in 2025, including trading away several veteran pitchers at the trade deadline. While these moves have garnered attention, the Cardinals also made a deal involving one of their own pitchers.
After initially designating him for assignment, the Cardinals were able to find a trade partner for starting pitcher Erick Fedde. He was sent to the Atlanta Braves, where he continued to struggle on the mound. Eventually, he was designated for assignment for a second time in 2025 before being picked up by the Milwaukee Brewers to serve as a long-relief pitcher.
On Wednesday night, Fedde made his debut in a Brewers uniform, but it did not go as planned. The Brewers had signed him to a one-year contract in hopes of sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks in their series finale. However, Fedde ended up being the losing pitcher in a 3-2 loss.
As the long reliever, Fedde pitched 4.1 innings and gave up two runs on eight hits with two strikeouts. The damage was done in the sixth inning when he allowed a two-run home run, putting the Brewers in a 2-1 deficit that they couldn’t overcome.
Despite the loss, Fedde’s performance was an improvement compared to his recent outings. He had allowed at least three earned runs in 10 consecutive appearances between his time with the Braves and Cardinals. This season, he has a 5.71 ERA and a 4-13 record with 78 strikeouts, 60 walks, and 144 hits allowed across all three teams.
The former Cardinals pitcher was designated for assignment, then traded, and then designated for assignment again by the Braves before landing with the Brewers. While his debut with the team didn’t go as well as he had hoped, it was a step in the right direction compared to his recent struggles.
Fedde will continue to serve as the long reliever for the Brewers as they aim to maintain their position at the top of the baseball world during the final month of the regular season.
