A’s Head to St. Louis to Snap Losing Streak and Face Former Ace Sonny Gray

Happy Labor Day everyone! The Oakland A’s are heading to St. Louis to start their road trip and face the Cardinals in a three-game series. After a three-game losing streak, the A’s are looking to get back in the win column and officially end the Cardinals’ playoff hopes.

Rookie right-hander Luis Morales will take the mound for the A’s in today’s game. Morales, one of the top young arms in the Athletics’ farm system, has impressed in his short time with the big league squad. With a 1.19 ERA in 22 2/3 innings over 5 appearances, he’ll look to continue his success against a struggling Cardinals team.

The starting lineup for the A’s in the first game of the series includes Lawrence Butler leading off, followed by Jacob Wilson, Brent Rooker, and Tyler Soderstrom. Rookie infielder Darell Hernaiz will start at third base, while Colby Thomas and JJ Bleday will man the outfield corners and Zack Gelof will play second base.

On the opposing side, former A’s staff ace Sonny Gray will be taking the mound for the Cardinals. Despite a tough season, Gray has managed to post a respectable 4.19 ERA and is coming off two quality starts.

Let’s go A’s! Let’s get a holiday win against Gray and the Cardinals.
