Cardinals TV Viewership Surges as Stadium Attendance Declines in 2025 Season

In a surprising turn of events, the St. Louis Cardinals have seen a rise in television viewership for their games this season, while their stadium attendance has taken a significant hit.

The team’s official broadcaster, FanDuel Sports Network, announced on Thursday that the first half of the Major League Baseball season has seen an average of 53,000 households tuning in to watch the Cardinals play. This is a notable increase from the previous year’s numbers.

According to AP, the St. Louis Cardinals have been struggling with low attendance numbers at Busch Stadium, with a noticeable decline in the number of fans showing up to watch the games in person. This trend has been observed since the start of the 2025 season.

Despite this, the Cardinals remain a popular team among viewers, with their games drawing in a significant number of households through television broadcasts. This could be attributed to the team’s strong performance on the field, as well as the convenience of watching the games from the comfort of one’s own home.

As the 2025 season progresses, it will be interesting to see how the Cardinals’ viewership and attendance numbers continue to fluctuate. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

Cardinals TV Viewership Up, In-Person Attendance Down in 2021 Season

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Cardinals have seen an increase in television viewership for the first half of the 2021 Major League Baseball season, according to FanDuel Sports Network. However, in-person attendance has significantly decreased compared to previous seasons.

FanDuel Sports Network announced on Thursday that the Cardinals’ games have been averaging 53,000 households per game, surpassing the 50,000 average for the entire 2024 MLB season. This is a positive sign for the team, as ratings have been down in recent years. In 2023, the Cardinals averaged 66,000 households per game.

The increase in viewership can be attributed to the team’s new direct-to-consumer option, which allows fans to purchase subscriptions to watch Cardinals games on the FanDuel Sports Network app. This has resulted in a significant increase in streaming, with 131,000 unique streamers and over 208 million minutes watched so far this season. The average watch time per game has also increased by 11% compared to last year, according to FanDuel Sports Network.
