According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Mets acquired the All-Star closer on Wednesday, with prospects Jesus Baez, Nate Dohm, and Frank Elissalt heading back to St. Louis in return.
This trade comes just days after Helsley openly stated that he had a high chance of being traded before the deadline. As a pending free agent, he was a prime candidate for a team looking to bolster their bullpen for a playoff push.
