Nobody on the Cardinals was happier to see August come to an end than Andre Pallante

As the month of August came to a close, there was one player on the Cardinals who breathed a sigh of relief – Andre Pallante. Unfortunately for Pallante, his August ended on a sour note, with yet another loss in his sixth start of the month.

This losing streak has made Pallante the first Cardinals pitcher since Bill Doak in 1917 to lose six games in the month of August. It’s a record that no player wants to hold, but for Pallante, it’s been a tough month on the mound.

August Ends with Another Loss for Cardinals’ Andre Pallante

The month of August has not been kind to Cardinals pitcher Andre Pallante, as he suffered his sixth loss of the month in Sunday’s game against the Reds. Despite only giving up two earned runs over five innings, Pallante’s record for the month stands at 0-6.

Reds Take Advantage of Cardinals’ Errors to Secure 7-4 Win

The Cardinals had a strong start, scoring two runs in the first inning, but a three-run second inning by the Reds, fueled by an error from Cesar Prieto, quickly turned the tide. The Cardinals were unable to regain the lead, ultimately falling 7-4 to the Reds in Cincinnati.

Cardinals’ Offense Struggles, Strike Out 15 Times in Loss

Despite a strong start, the Cardinals’ offense struggled to produce runs after the third inning. They were only able to muster two hits after the third, including Crooks’ home run in the seventh. The team also struck out 15 times, with Jordan Walker striking out in all four of his at-bats.

Pallante’s Record Drops to 6-13 with 5.38 ERA

Pallante had a tough outing, giving up six hits and four walks while striking out six. His record for the season now stands at 6-13 with a 5.38 ERA. The Reds were able to add to their lead with a two-run homer in the fifth and runs off of relievers Gordon Graceffo and Andre Granillo in the seventh and eighth innings.

Cardinals Finish August with 13-15 Record, Outscored 144-120

The Cardinals ended the month of August with a 13-15 record, being outscored by their opponents 144-120. Despite the tough month, there were some bright spots, including Crooks’ first career home run and strong performances from pitcher Quinn Mathews in Triple-A.
